Our Activity So Far

Below you’ll find what we’ve achieved so far in our mission to positivly shape the look of cancer care within the North East and North Cumbria.

Signposting Services

  • Signposting of support services via Cancern Network and Cancer Care Map
  • Patients involved in Research and co-design of new services – Multi cancer blood test, Lung cancer pathway redesign, Vague symptom pathways, Bladder Cancer
  • Patient support for mental health and wellbeing via referrals process

Meetings / Events

  • Monthly meetings led by patients as chairs of the groups (online and face to face)
  • Bi-monthly meetings of whole group (online)
  • Priority areas established based on patient feedback
  • Public Involvement and Accountability Forum attendance bi-monthly
  • Group attendance at Cancer Locality Meetings
  • NCV attendance at strategic Integrated Care Board (ICB) meetings
  • Local engagement events scheduled to gain patient and carer feedback

  • Cancer Champion training and delivered
  • Make Every Contact Count (MECC) Cancer ‘Conversation Starters’ delivered

Helping Shape Services
