Northern Cancer Voices partner with Slater and Gordon

June 16, 2026

A charity committed to ensuring cancer patients across the North East receive the best possible care has partnered with a law firm to add vital new support services to the individuals and families it works with.

Northern Cancer Voices plays a unique role in working with cancer patients and their families to help connect their lived experiences with the organisations that design, fund and deliver services.

The organisation – which brings together patients, carers and health professionals – has grown since its foundation in 2021 to be a prominent voice across the North East and North Cumbria in representing patients’ feedback and experiences to advocate for improved services.

Northern Cancer Voices is currently supporting individuals and families impacted by challenges in cancer care across the region, including those affected by concerns within the County Durham and Darlington Breast Cancer Service.

Law firm Slater and Gordon – which is acting for growing numbers of women who have experienced failings in care within the breast cancer service – has now partnered with Northern Cancer Voices to expand the ways cancer patients are supported more widely across the region.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to addressing the wider challenges people affected by cancer face, beyond treatment, including financial, legal, and social barriers.

The law firm will deliver online legal clinics and education sessions to anyone connected with the charity, to help them understand their rights and legal position. Slater and Gordon’s specialist team can give advice to individuals and their families in a host of specialist areas, including clinical negligence, industrial disease, employment and family law.

Tori Bradison, CEO, Northern Cancer Voices, says: “This partnership is a significant step in strengthening the support available to our communities. People affected by cancer often face complex legal and practical challenges at already difficult times. Working with Slater and Gordon means we can connect individuals with trusted, ethical advice that helps them feel informed, supported, and empowered.”

John Lowther, principal lawyer at Slater and Gordon in the North East, says: “The work of Northern Cancer Voices is invaluable in helping to shape the future of better care for cancer patients across our region. The work of the amazing team in not only delivering

support to whole families, but also helping to use patient feedback for wider good, is hugely important.

“As a law firm, we are heavily involved in the support of cancer patients – in addition to acting for growing numbers of women within the County Durham and Darlington Breast Cancer Service, we also support individuals affected by industrial cancers, and those requiring advice around employment or family law – showing the potential of how widely we can support those associated with Northern Cancer Voices.

“We look forward to working with Northern Cancer Voices to ensure whole families are supported in every way possible.”
